Stephen Adkisson draws influences from his diverse musical and geographic background. From his early years in the plains of Northeastern Nebraska to the high desert of Southern New Mexico, from the Blues of Memphis, Tennessee, to the bustling metropolis of Seoul, South Korea, Stephen combines his musical and philosophical experiences into a sound and perspective that is uniquely his. In 2019, after spending the first two decades of his musical career performing on electric bass throughout the United States and the Republic of Korea, Stephen settled in San Marcos, Texas, where he began studying composition with Michael Ippolito at Texas State University, earning an MM and graduate certificate in composition. Since beginning explorations into concert music, Stephen has had the opportunity to collaborate with several artists, including pianist Boran Zhao, violinist Michelle Lie, Mysterium New Music Ensemble,  and choreographer Tra Boggas. Stephen has worked with esteemed ensembles such as HUB New Music, Unheard-of Ensemble, and Attacca Quartet.
